Over the last year students from the Masters course at Bath University Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering have devoted themselves to a reassessment of the needs of the community in Redcliffe.

This exhibition encompassing a series of proposals investigated through film, model, animation, drawing and other media – is intended to act as both critique and stimulus, adding to the debate about this hotly contested part of Bristol.

Strongly critical of the limitations of traditional contextual studies, this work looks for new methods of representation that work with, rather than against the fluid and changeable nature of city life.

The story begins on the Ship Lane Estate with a series of documentaries about the men and women who live and work in the area. A strong sense of neighbourhood is captured and celebrated through this work, and a possible future Redcliffe emerges, informed by the stories and desires of the people who live there.
